Mail-a-check: how it works

For $5 a check, we print a check you send from OwnChecks and mail it to your payee, usually within 3 to 4 business days.

What you need

A OwnChecks license, a saved signature, your bank name and account name in Account details, and the payee's mailing address. You pay on a secure Stripe page.

How it is printed

We print the full check on blank check stock in the check-on-top voucher format, with your bank and account details, the MICR line and the stubs. It is printed with standard toner, not magnetic MICR ink. Most banks accept these.

How it is mailed

We mail it by USPS First-Class Mail with a regular postage stamp, in a window envelope that shows the payee address as printed on the check. There is no tracking. We email you when it ships.

Addresses

You confirm the payee and return addresses before you pay, and we mail to the address printed on the check. OwnChecks is not responsible for mail that is late or undeliverable because a payee or return address is wrong.

Voided or canceled checks

The check goes in your register when you order it. If you cancel checkout or void the check, tell the payee yourself. OwnChecks is not responsible for voided checks.

Your check file

To print it, this one check's print file (including the routing and account numbers and your signature) is sent securely to OwnChecks. It is stored encrypted until the check is mailed, so a misprint can be reprinted, then deleted within 3 days after it is mailed.
