Terms of use

The software

OwnChecks prints checks and keeps a check register on your computer. It does not move money and it does not process payments. It is not a bank and it is not affiliated with any bank. Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit). Internet is needed to download and activate once.

Authorized use only

Use the software only on accounts you own or are authorized to sign on. Creating, altering, or depositing a check without that authority is fraud. You may not use the software to forge a signature, to print a check on an account you are not allowed to use, or to evade a bank's fraud controls. Sekhem Holdings I LLC does not permit that use and may refuse a sale that appears to be for it.

Your bank decides what it will accept

You are responsible for confirming that your bank will accept checks you print, including checks on blank stock with a MICR line. Test with your bank before you rely on them. A free test page checks alignment. It is not a promise of bank acceptance. MICR toner or MICR ink is recommended for blank stock, and a laser printer is recommended. Field alignment is your responsibility to verify on your printer.

Purchase and license

$50 for your first computer. Add more for $15 each, up to 10 per buyer (per purchase email). Payment is handled by Stripe Checkout. After payment, this site shows the license key and emails it. One order covers the first computer plus the extra computers on that order. The key activates on those computers. Later orders on the same purchase email can add computers until the total is 10.

Updates

Your license includes all future versions of OwnChecks released while we continue to sell the product. We may stop selling or updating it at any time; your installed version keeps working.

Updates are software downloads, not a schedule of new features. The same clause is in the end-user license.

Support

Support is by email only, at support@ownchecks.com. There is no free phone support.

Your data

Your checks, payees and register stay on your PC. Nothing is uploaded. Your logo and signature stay on that computer too. You are responsible for your own backups. Backup and restore stay on your PC. It needs the internet only to download it and to activate your key once. Your check data never leaves your PC.

Refunds

Refunds within 48 hours of purchase by contacting support@ownchecks.com. After 48 hours, all sales are final. A refund revokes the license key or keys. Read the refunds page before you buy. The free trial prints a VOID watermark until you activate, so you can test the software before you pay.

No warranty

The software and this website are provided as-is. To the extent the law allows, Sekhem Holdings I LLC disclaims implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. Bank acceptance is not warranted.

Liability

To the extent the law allows, Sekhem Holdings I LLC is not liable for indirect or consequential damages, including a refused check, a printing error, or a lost backup. Liability is limited to the amount the customer paid for OwnChecks. Nothing here limits a right that the law says cannot be limited.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Colorado, and venue lies in the State of Colorado.
